in Sibiu, Romania
A group of 7 students (10th graders), who will undertake a mobility program at ”ONISIFOR GHIBU” HIGH SCHOOL in Sibiu, Romania, the host institution for this project. The mobility will last for 5 days, during which the students will visit the host school and participate in joint activities aimed at improving their digital skills, as well as developing competencies in democratic citizenship and intercultural dialogue. Additionally, Spanish students will have the opportunity to make contact with the culture and civilization of the host country through various cultural visits and excursions. The Spanish students will also have the chance to discuss with their Romanian peers the educational systems, to share perspectives on youth life in Romania and broaden their understanding of cultural diversity and European society.
Students developed a deeper understanding of democratic principles and their application in different contexts. Through debates and team discussions, they improved their critical thinking and communication skills, learning to express ideas clearly and consider diverse perspectives on democracy.
The activities also increased their awareness of civic engagement and the importance of active participation in democratic processes.
Students became “journalists for a day”, preparing questions for members of the Sibiu City Council. During their visit to the town hall, they conducted interviews with local officials, gaining firsthand experience in journalism and civic communication.
Through this activity, students practised interviewing and reporting skills, improved their ability to write and present information clearly and objectively, and deepened their understanding of local government and its role in civic life.
They also reflected on the importance of media in informing citizens and shaping public opinion.
Students learned about the structure and function of student councils in different schools, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and exchange of ideas.
They gained greater awareness of the role students play in shaping school policies and promoting democratic values within their educational communities.
Through group presentations, they improved their communication and public speaking skills and developed a broader perspective on how student councils can address similar challenges across diverse cultural and educational contexts.
Students participated in round table discussions and role-playing activities to explore the importance of active citizenship in improving local communities.
They developed critical thinking skills on social issues and civic responsibilities, while strengthening teamwork and communication abilities through interactive participation.
The experience inspired many students to become more engaged in their own communities, motivated by the examples and ideas shared during the sessions.
Students took part in brainstorming sessions using Mentimeter, followed by presentations, videos, and posters created on Canva to explore how digital tools can support civic engagement and promote democratic values.
They improved their digital literacy, especially in areas such as online activism, social media influence, and responsible online behavior.
Through these activities, students developed skills in using technology to advocate for social causes, raise awareness, and contribute to community building, while gaining a deeper understanding of the role of digital platforms in shaping modern democracy.
Students immersed themselves in the cultural heritage of the host country through a variety of hands-on and exploratory activities, including folk dances, presentations of traditional costumes, handcraft workshops (pottery), and visits to cultural sites.
Highlights included trips to the Village Museum, Bran Castle, Brașov, and Sibiu, where students discovered local customs, legends, and architectural beauty.
These experiences deepened their appreciation of national traditions, enhanced their understanding of how customs shape cultural identity, and fostered intercultural dialogue and respect for diversity. Students also developed practical skills and a stronger sense of connection to different cultures and ways of life.
Students participated in a series of engaging activities designed to build friendships and strengthen intercultural bonds. The program began with ice-breaker games and a treasure hunt in Sibiu, encouraging teamwork and communication.
They also delivered presentations about their home countries, regions, and schools, sharing their cultures and traditions as true Erasmus+ ambassadors while visiting local classes.
The experience concluded with a joyful farewell party, celebrating the new friendships and unforgettable memories created during the exchange.
