Eleonora Pierucci (Academic Coordinator)

Associate Professor of Applied Economics at Roma Tre University and member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rome – Sapienza. She was academic staff member for the Jean Monnet Chair in European Innovation Policy (2014-2017) at University of Basilicata where she also served as Assistant Professor. She was Schuman Fulbright scholar at University of Massachusetts Lowell (2011-2012). She is member of the scientific committee of the Society of Economics and Industrial Policy (SIEPI). Her research interests deal with globalization, redistribution and risk sharing, cohesion policy and technology transfer. She co-organized international workshops, conferences and seminar series: Italian Economic Association annual conference; Society of Economics and Industrial Policy annual workshop; European Innovation Policy Seminar series (3 years). Recent articles appeared on: European Journal of Political Economy; Regional Studies, Economics Letters, Open Economies Review, Journal of Technology Transfer. She is currently managing Editor of the International Journal of Computational Economics and Econometrics and serves as referee for a number of international journals.

Mara Giua (Vice Academic Coordinator)

Assistant Professor at Roma Tre University and member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. She is particularly interested in territorial imbalances and regional economic disparities across Europe and into the analysis of the policies implemented to improve economic performances within this context. Her current research is focused on the genesis and on the counterfactual impact of regional, innovation and internationalization policies. In particular, she has published on the economic impact of the European Structural Funds programs. She is currently focusing on the internationalization and the local economic development in globalized contexts with studies on the attraction of foreign investments and on the role of the relative promotion agencies in European countries. She collaborates with the Department for Development and Cohesion Policies of the Italian Presidency of Ministries for the project OpenCoesione, the national web portal that publishes data for all the projects financed with the EU Structural and Investment Funds (ERFD, ESF, EARDF, EMFF).

Barbara Annichiarico

Associate Professor of Economics at University of Rome Tor Vergata and Affiliated Manlio Masi Foundation. Her field of expertise aremacroeconomics and international economics, with a research focus on DSGE modelling, fiscal and monetary policy interactions, environmental regulations, growth and business cycle, simulation analysis of tax, competition and innovation policies. She has acted as consultant for the ECB and has been a member of the Council of Experts at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (as expected in macroeconomic modelling and structural reforms). She is member of the H2020 Commission Expert Group to advise on further development of the macro-economic modelling agenda.

Riccardo Crescenzi

Full Professor of Economic Geography at the London School of Economics and Political Science where he is also affiliated with the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the Spatial Economics Research Centre (SERC) and member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. Riccardo is also an Associate at the Centre for International Development (CID) at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Riccardo has provided academic to, amongst others, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Parliament, the European Commission (DG Regional Policy), the Inter-American Investment Bank (IADB), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and various national and regional governments. Riccardo is the 2016 recipient of the Talented Young Italians Award for ‘Research and Innovation’ “in recognition of his outstanding research accomplishments” and the 2017 recipient of the Geoffrey J.D. Hewings Award from the North American Regional Science Council for “outstanding contribution to Regional Science Research. He holds a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant.

Ilaria Fusacchia

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Economics, Roma Tre University (since 2017) and fellow at the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. She is an expert in regional and international trade, supply chains and trade policy evaluation. Her current research is focused on the impact of the recent major changes in trade policies (specifically, Brexit, Trump Administration’s trade wars and the African Continental Free Trade Area) on regional and global value chains. She has been involved in national, European and international research groups, most of them focused on the assessment of the impact of trade policies. She contributed to several reports for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Istituto di Servizi per il Mercato Agricolo Alimentare (ISMEA), the European Commission, providing counterfactual assessments of policies and developing proper instruments to assess supply chains linkages. Ilaria is a member of the organizing committee of the “GDS17” Study Group

Anna Giunta

Full Professor of Applied Economics, Department of Economics, Roma Tre University. She teaches courses of Industrial Economics and Firms’ Economics at graduate and post-graduate level. She is Director of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research, Centre of Excellence, Roma Tre University. She is also member of the Scientific boards of: European Research Centre (CER), Rome, Italy; Centre for Industrial Studies (CSIL), Milan, Italy. She was member of the Italian Academic Staff Recruitment Committee in Applied Economics (2012-14) and President of the Society of Economics and Industrial Policy, SIEPI (2016-19). As a senior expert, she has participated in several research projects financed by the European Commission. Her articles appear on: The World Economy; Industrial and Corporate Change; Economics Letters; International Economics, Journal of Technology Transfer; International Small Business Journal; International Review of Applied Economics; VoxEu; International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development; Regional Studies.

Rezart Hoxhaj

Rezart Hoxhaj is an economist whose topics of interest are development economics and international factor mobility, in particular migration and FDI. His current research in the migration domain explores immigrants’ expectations, skilled immigration and integration/assimilation in terms of education at destination. Before joining the Roma Tre University, Rezart Hoxhaj was a Research Fellow at the Migration Policy Centre (EUI) In Florence and a CERGE-EI fellow. He was awarded a joint PhD by the University of Bari "Aldo Moro" (Italy) and the University of Lille 1 (France) with the thesis "Essays on international migration". He has been also an expert for DG Home and has also participated in different projects financed by private foundations and universities (MEDAM, Migro-Village etc.). Recent articles are published on: Ethnic and Racial Studies, Review of World Economics, Journal of African Economies and International Economics.

Enrico Marvasi

Assistant Professor at University of Firenze, affiliated to Manlio Masi Foundation and expert of international trade, with a research focus on firms’ productivity, global value chains and trade policy issues. He has been working in several research groups at universities and research institutions. Presented his works in many international conferences, workshops and seminars. His articles are published in well-established international.

Pierluigi Montalbano

Associate Professor of International Economic Policy at Sapienza University of Rome (IT), Associate Faculty at Department of Economics, University of Sussex (UK). Chair Holder of the Jean Monnet Chair on "Rethinking EU Trade Policy for Development". Director of MSc on "Migration and Development", Sapienza University of Rome (IT); Member of the Scientific Board of the Journal "Economia della Cultura" (ISSN 1122-7885). Member of the Italian Centrefor International Development (ICID), University of Tor Vergata (IT) and of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research, Roma Tre University (IT). He is author and co-author of several, national and international articles and scientific publications and invited speakers at several national and international conferences and seminars. He has consultant experience, both as project leader and senior expert, with several national and international institutions, including the Italian Government; the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the European Commission; the European Economic and Social Committee; The World Bank; The International Development Bank; the FAO; the Global Development Network; the OECD-DAC.

Silvia Nenci

Associate Professor of Economic policy at the Roma Tre University, Italy and member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rome – Sapienza. She is member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctoral Programme in Economics and Coordinator of the Development Economics Programme in the Master in Human Development and Food Security of the Roma Tre University. She is author and co-authors of several publications, included articles in international referred journals with impact factor. She has worked for several research institutes in Italy and abroad, as well as in national and international research projects on the subjects of international economics and trade policy. She has consulting experience with several national and international institutions including the Italian MoFA, the Italian Trade Agency, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Global Development Network (GDN), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Trade Centre of UN. Her research interests include: International Trade; Trade Policy; International Economic Policy; International Trade and Development; Global Value Chains.

Carlo Pietrobelli

Full Professor of Economics at Roma Tre University, member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research, Professorial Fellow at UNU-MERIT and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, Washington D.C.. During 2009-2016 was Lead Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank. His research interests include innovation, trade, industry and natural resources in developing countries. His books were published by Harvard University Press, Edward Elgar, Palgrave and Routledge. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Oxford and has been a regular policy advisor to governments in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Beniamino Quintieri

Full Professor of International Economics at University of Rome Tor Vergata. Chairman of the Manlio Masi Foundation, National Observatory for Internationalization and Trade. Since June 2016 Beniamino Quintieri has been Chairman of SACE (The Italian Export Credit Agency). From 2001 to 2005 he served as President of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE). He was Director of CEIS (Centre of International Studies on Economics and Development). He is the author or editor of 20 volumes and published over 60 articles in scientific journals on topics related to international economics, public finance, labor economics, macroeconomics and applied economics.

Luca Salvatici

Full Professor of Economic Policy at Roma Tre University and member of the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. He is currently member of the Editorial Board of the journal Economía Agraria y Recursos Naturales and coordinator of the Ph.D. program in Economics at Roma Tre University. He is member of the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium, and he has been involved in several research projects both at the European and national level. He has extensive consultancy experience, having completed work for the The World Bank; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; the International Food Policy Research Institute. His most recent publications appear on: Energy Economics; European Review of Agricultural Economics; Journal of Economic Surveys; Review of International Economics.

Domenico Scalera

Full professor of Economics at the Department of Law and Economics at University of Sannio, Italy. MA in Economics, University of Warwick, 1990; Ph.D. in Development Economics, Università Federico II di Napoli, 1992. Former Director of Laurea Course in Statistics and Financial Mathematics and member of Administration Board at University of Sannio, he is now Senior Advisor of Centre for Industrial Studies (Milan, Italy) and member of the Technical Board for Financial Autonomy at Regional Council (Naples, Italy). He is also member of the European Economic Association and the major Italian economic societies (SIE, SIEPI, AISRE, SIEP). His main research interests are in the field of production fragmentation and global value chains, regional policy and migration. He has published more than 50 scientific articles on national and international journals, and directed or taken part in several national and international research projects. He has an extensive experience in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level.

Silvia Sopranzetti

Research Fellow at Manlio Masi Foundation, expert of international economics with research focus on network analysis and global value chains issues. She has been working as a researcher both in universities and research institution. Teaching experience in international economics and European economics.

Davide Vurchio

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods at the University of Milan, working on the project “Cost-Benefit Analysis of Public Procurement in the Space Industry”. He is also fellow at the Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research. Ph.D. in Economics at University of Bari “Aldo Moro” in 2016 and a Master in Economics of Globalisation and European Integration in 2012 at the Vysokáškolaekonomická v Praze. Previously post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Economics and Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research, Roma Tre University. He worked as Research Consultant for the Department of Policy Research and Statistics of UNIDO and has contributed to ICE-Istat 2017 report. He has contributed to Policy Reports for CeRPeM (Centro Ricerche per Il Mezzogiorno, Bari), FAO of the United Nations and ICE (Italian Trade Agency) and published two co-authored articles on the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society and on the Industrial and Corporate Change journal. His main research interests involve Industrial Policy, International Trade, Regional Economics and Impact Evaluation. Member of the Italian Economists Society (SIE) and of the GDS17 Study Group Organizing Committee (Roma Tre University). Referee for the Journal of Economic Policy Reform.
