HELPING GALENUS (2022-2023)
Helping Galenus eTwinning / Erasmus project aims to improve the basic skills of secondary and high school students through an interdisciplinary approach in a context of meaningful learning that takes as its starting point the productivity of classical languages in the generation of scientific terminology related to anatomy and medicine.

MIDE 2
M.I.D.E. 2 project (2021-2022) intends to serve as a workspace for the 2nd school year of the Erasmus + KA 229 project "Monsters in Danger of Extinction" carried out by two eTwinning schools: IES Unamuno BHI (Bilbao / Spain) and Ekpaidetyria Panou (Nafpaktos / Greece) that deal mainly with a pedagogical context of multilingualism, respect for diversity and inclusion. In this second year of the project, another school, IES Ignacio Ellacuria-Zurbaran BHI (Bilbao / Spain), with less experience in the eTwinning and Erasmus programs will be incorporated.
The subject of the project focuses on the imaginary beings in classical mythology manifested specially in arts and literature. This fact provides an opportunity to take profit of the shared cultural richness in each country to develop basic skills, gender equality and social inclusion.

The project aims to discover and critically analyze the most famous Latin sentences in use from classical antiquity to the present day to reinforce the linguistic, cultural, multilingual and digital competencies of upper secondary and high school students from four European schools: IES Miguel de Unamuno BHI in Bilbao (Spain), Go Atheneum Pottelberg in Kortrijk (Belgium), Collège Jacques Prévert from Marle (France) and Neues Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven (Germany).

Waste management : towards an eco-school (2021-2022)
We are used to sorting our waste: papers, plastics, household waste etc.
Do we really know what is the outcome of our waste? What are waste treatment or recycling procedures according to the kind of waste? Is waste management the same in all European countries?
First of all ,the students will research waste treatment and waste recycling in their city and/or country. They will exchange with partners on how it’s done in their countries.
Then, they will study the waste management of their own school, and propose ways to improve it.
The aim of the project “Meeting Cultures Beyond Stereotypes” gives our students the opportunity of crossing borders from one country to another and defeating the creation of the various stereotypes throughout Europe. The project will last 24 months and it will involve 4 different partner schools: Italy, Spain, Denmark and Greece. The objectives of the project are: students will be much more aware of the diversity and the most important thing of all, is that they will be able to welcome diversity as there are many issues regarding intolerance.

Project partners: Greece, Italy, Germany and Spain
The project is aimed at 15-17 year old students who are going to learn about the adventure of the words that were born in Greece, adopted into the Latin language and afterwards, travelling through time, introduced in plenty of European languages either unchanged or slightly changed. Therefore, students are going to attempt an interesting wandering into European languages, seeking the common Greek and Latin roots of lots of words that Europeans use in their everyday lives. They are going to study systematically their etymology and afterwards they are going to use these words in order to implement a series of activities.
The teacher and students of Latin at IES Miguel de Unamuno BHI in Bilbao received the eTwinning National Quality Seal for the project The Odyssey of Words still continues. Congratulations for the work done!!!

Hizkuntza klasiko ikasleek egindako "The Odyssey of Words still continues" eTwinning proiektuak, nazionaleko eta europarreko kalitate-zigiluak lortu ondoren, eTwinning 1. saria irabazi dute Grezian. Zorionak egindako lanarengatik!!!!
El alumnado de lenguas clásicas que realizó el proyecto "The Odyssey of Words still continues" junto a compañeros griegos, italianos, alemanes y españoles, además de conseguir los sellos eTwinning de calidad nacional y europeo, ha ganado el primer premio eTwinning en Grecia. Enhorabuena por el trabajo realizado!!!

Project partners: Basque Country, Spain and Germany
The project aims to recognize and analyze the imprint of the Classical myths related to women in order to overcome gender stereotypes which are present in the current society. Another important objective is to analyze the role of the European woman as a political and social player from the Classical Antiquity to these days. In addition, the project intends to reinforce the linguistic competence in Classical and Modern languages, the mathematical competence through the analysis of artistic beauty canons as well as to increase the cultural competence in History of Art. It goes without saying that this is intended to strengthen the students’ digital competence and also their self-esteem from an aesthetic point of view.
Teachers and students of the IES Miguel de Unamuno BHI in Bilbao received the eTwinning National Quality Seal for the project Mission Europa. Congratulations for the work done!!!
