The Pancake Loop

"Nobody gets upset when we're making pancakes. When the first one comes off burnt on one side, crunchy and gooey on the other side, no one says shut down the kitchen. Instead, the cook makes the adjustments." Zerreta Hammond: Coaching For Instructional Equity

We have to re-imagine, what does it mean to move through our academic armor, and invoke the first pancake. Embrace the first pancake: Move through imperfections because “good stuff is coming.” You’re the expert in your discipline. Personify success versus perfection. "Experimenting with educational technologies requires faculty to remove their emotional armor and be vulnerable" (Michelle Pacansky-Brock).

  • The RE-DO

    • Reflect / Edit / Discover / Observe

3rd Pancake

  • Confident and comfortable

  • Designing in the right conditions

4th Pancake

  • Experimentation

  • Creative freedom

  • Enter a new pancake loop

"A true academic reimagined and reinvents." Dr. Christopher Emdin (Rachetdemic)

"If professors are wounded, damaged individuals, people who are not self actualized, they will seek asylum in thee Academy rather than seek to make the Academy a place of change, the electrical interchange, and growth." bell hooks (Teaching To Transgress)
