When starting PEMF for the first time, the magnetic field strength (MFS) of pulsing will remain low and slow. MFS will be built up to your/your animal(s) tolerance over multiple sessions.
The tolerance of the MFS can fluctuate with regular sessions, ranging from Low-Intensity Pulsing to Moderate-Intensity Pulsing.
Low-Intensity- recommended for acute injuries, fascia, and to promote relaxation
Moderate-Intensity- is more visible, recommended for muscle fatigue, after exercise, and to ease discomfort
Yawning- This is the big release PEMF professionals often refer to. It is something that we hope our clients get to experience, human or otherwise!
Stretching- This release shows that they not only feel good but has the added benefit of being good for the muscles!
While a PEMF session is taking place, the PEMF professional may point out/observe the animal(s) reacting/responding in a few ways. These responses, also called releases, allow the PEMF professional to determine what areas need the most attention.
The different releases we look for are as follows -
Licking and Chewing- This non-food-induced response shows the animal has entered "rest and digest" mode.
Fidgeting- Some animals prior to a big release will move around, paw, or play with metal clips on cross ties because they feel the release building. The fidgeting is their attempt to settle beforehand.
Grounding- This release is unique to grazing animals, it is similar to stretching, but it requires them to drop their heads all the way to the ground. During a session, if an animal exhibits grounding it's because this position is natural for them during "rest and digest" mode.
To see plenty of examples of the types of releases to expect during a session and to meet some of my clients...
Individuals may feel more energized immediately or soon after a session, or there may be no major burst of energy at all. It entirely depends on the individual.
Make sure after your/your animal(s) session to...
Allow for a few hours of downtime - this could mean being less active or even taking a nap. This time is to relax, replenish nutrients/minerals, rehydrate, etc. This step is crucial for you/your animal(s) to reap the full benefits of PEMF.
Seek Salt/Minerals - make sure to replenish your/your animal(s) essential nutrients through supplements after a session. For livestock, this may come in the form of salt blocks in their stalls or pastures. For smaller animals, it may come in the form of treats.
Seek out nutrients - while this is similar to "seek salt/nutrients", this is a reminder that it is completely normal for both humans and animals alike to feel especially hungry after a session! Animals might show this by seeking out food or finishing meals faster. For any user, eating nutritious foods after a session is highly recommended.
Rehydrate - Last (but not least) is the normal, and encouraged, response to intake water after or during a session if possible. Make sure that either you or your animal increases their water intake as an important step in good wellness.
It is important to remember that all of these responses after a session correlate with how PEMF provides energy to the cell!
