Before the heroes rescue Sita, I need to explain the events that lead Bhima to Dubai. After escaping from King Duryodhan, who wanted them dead, Bhima and his family continued away from the city into a nearby mountain range. They traveled far away to be sure they were safe. The trip had exhausted the mother of the Panadava brothers. She told them that she needed rest. They found a cave and she asked Bhima to fetch her some water. He left the cave to find water for her and shortly after he left, his mother and brothers fell asleep. He did not have to venture far to find the water and he returned soon and saw his family sleeping so he watched over them. They would be glad he did so because not far away was the demon Hidimba.
He despised humans and sent his sister Hidimbi to lure the family to him so he could kill and eat them. When she found the family she saw Bhima standing over his family and immediately fell in love. She was so captivated by his looks that she knew she could not lead them back to her brother so that he could kill them. She decided to warn him instead of listening to her brother. "Please flee now because my brother is mighty and will vanquish all of you," Hibimbi pleaded.
"Let him come," Bhima said calmly.
"Please leave. I have seen my brother slay creatures double your size," begged Hibimbi.
Hidimba was getting impatient so he decided to go find them. He arrived to find his sister talking to Bhima and he was furious. "HIDIMBI!" screeched Hidimba. "How dare you betray me for this man? I will slay all of you where you stand," said Hibimba. What he did not know, however, was that Bhima had amazing strength. No one on Earth was as strong as Bhima was. Bhima looked his foe in the eye and knew a fight was about to ensue. Hidimba dashed forward with incredible speed but he was not fast enough. Bhima quickly dodged and punched him in the stomach. That sent him flying backwards into a boulder. Bhima ran towards him and started to throw punches so hard that the boulder broke and started to crumble behind the demon. Bhima drew his sword as Hidimba tried to stand up. Then Bhima dashed forward and beheaded the evil demon. The sister was saddened by this so she decided to bury her dead brother. "I am sorry for your loss but he was going to kill us all and I am also sorry that I cannot return your love," said Bhima. "I need to make sure my family is protected while we have no home." Soon after the battle the family left the mountain range and the demon’s sister behind. They entered the outskirts of Dubai looking for shelter but they ended up finding trouble.
They ran into a gang leader named Baka and he was demanding payment in the form of a “new citizen tax." Not having any money, Bhima and his family refused to pay Baka. Baka then told them to leave town or he and his gang would end their lives. Bhima was furious with the gang leader. He was enraged by the fact that someone would threaten his family. He drew his swords and prepared to defend his family. The gang members surrounded Bhima but he jumped over the men and ran towards the leader. More men stepped in front of his path and Bhima barreled through them then with a swift strike he cleaved the gang leader in two. After seeing their leader fall to the ground in two pieces the gang members ran away terrified. Bhima's family was safe again so they decided to seek shelter. As soon as they started searching Bhima saw a giant mushroom cloud of sand rise over the desert. He decided to investigate while his family found a place to stay. He arrived to find two men and a woman out in the middle of the desert. Once he found out they were warriors, who had just finished fighting, he wanted to test his strength against the winner.

Author's Notes-
I used the story about Bhima fighting Hidimba and Baka. This is the part in the Mahabharata where the Pandava brothers and their mom escape a King that tried to kill them. I changed the location from a forest to a mountainside as well. Bhima carries a mace in the original stories but I went with a sword because I want him to duel Ravana later in an epic sword fight. Bhima goes to fetch his mother water and a demon wants to kill and eat them all. Bhima bravely fights him and defeats the demon. I skipped the part about him leaving for a while with the demon's sister. I wanted to narrow my focus onto Bhima's love and devotion to his family instead. I also changed details of where the family ran off to and the cities they were in. He also saves a town from a cruel, demon leader but in my story he is a gang leader in the slums of Dubai. I wanted to make a backstory for Bhima for my storybook while staying accurate to the Mahabharata. Bhima will be compared to The Incredible Hulk in my story about the Avengers. Bhima is incredibly strong so that is why I made that comparison. He has the power to gain more strength when he gets angry but he will only use this power as a last resort. He limits himself so as to not go on a rampage around city. This is his backstory leading into his fight with Rama and the events that transpire next. He is going to help Rama save Sita from Ravana.
