Defining Blended Learning

Differentiating between blended vs. hybrid learning:

• Hybrid learning is more about WHERE the learning takes place (online or in class, either simultaneously or by rotation).

• Blended learning is more about HOW the learning happens (pedagogical choices) using a mix of online or offline tools.

Blended learning is about enhancing learning by:

• blending our pedagogical, curricular, and technological knowledge;

• providing opportunities for differentiation, engagement, personalization, and agency for our students;

• using a blend of digital & traditional tools.

This looks different depending on:

• you and your students’ pedagogical & curricular needs;

• whether you offer individualized or whole-class instruction;

• what kind of & how much tech you and students have access to;

• you and your students’ comfort levels with technology.
