Exams: There will be 3 exams for a total weight of 40%.
Tentative Exam Dates: Exam I – September 19th, Exam II – October 17th, Exam III – November 14th
Homework: 15% This is the best way to learn. Please feel free to work together, but turn in work that is your own. Utilize notes, the text(s), and your instructor. Homework will be based mostly on readings from the text and assigned approximately weekly.
In-Class Exercises: 10% Work completed as a class will be turned in on certain days. If you are writing on paper, please take a picture and upload to Moodle as a pdf. If you are typing or using an e-pen, please save as a pdf and upload to Moodle.
Attendance and Participation: 5% Please log onto Zoom and be present and active in breakout rooms.
Final Presentation-15% In addition to writing, scientific presentation is one of the most important methods to share information and reach a broad audience. Presentation skills are highly useful and you will practice here. Each student will prepare a 5-minute presentation during our Final Exam period and turn in a paper (12 point font, double-sided and double-spaced, approx. 1250-1500 words). This will be based on profiling a particular pollutant molecule in the environment. Please choose from a list or suggest your own.
Mini Presentations - 3 at 5% each - Various topics throughout the semester, upload short summary (1 page) to Moodle.
