All the meetings, as well as daily breakfast and lunch, will be held in communal spaces of AVRA Hotel.
Double rooms will be provided. Please be prepared to share a room with another applicant and contact us in case you wish to share a room with someone specific.
A hired bus has been arranged for the Summer School participants. The bus will transport you from Athens to Methana (on Wed 3/July) and back (Sun 7/July). The pick-up point is at the Doukissis Plakentias metro station (Line 3) after 8:00 a.m. on July 3rd. The bus will depart at 8:30 am. See the metro maps below for info.
The Summer School will provide breakfast and light lunch in the hotel. Please inform us of any dietary preferences or restrictions you may have at ramones.h2020@gmail.com
The school will offer a dinner on Friday evening 05-07-2024.
Please remember to bring with you your laptop, hat, sunscreen, swimming suit and insect repellent.
All flights to Athens are served via the "Eleftherios Venizelos" International Airport (code ATH). All major and several minor airlines have flights to and from the airport.
by Metro
Athens center is served by Line 3 of the Athens metro (blue line). A special ticket is required to and from the airport to Athens center. [Ticket Info][Map of Metro]
by Taxi
There is direct connection to Athens center by taxi. The yellow taxi cabs offer a flat rate which differs for day (40 EUR) and night (60 EUR) rides for up to 4 people and standard luggage. There is no Uber operating.
by Bus
The X95 Bus service runs on 24-hour basis.

By Hired Bus
A bus with driver will be hired for the scope of the Summer School. The bus will transport the participants from Athens to Methana and back. The pick-up point is at the Doukissis Plakentias metro station (Line 3) at 8:15 a.m. on July 3rd. (see also top of page).
By Car
Methana is at a distance of 2 hours from Athens. From Athens airport take the A6 Motorway, mostly known as Attiki Odos, links Athens to Korinthos. Take the last exit to Elefsina and continue onto A8 Motorway, also known as Olympia Odos, that runs over the north coastline of the Peloponnese. After crossing the Isthmia Bridge follow National Road No 10 connecting Korinthos with Epidavros. Continue past Epidavros village, staying coastal on the National Road Epidavros-Galatas. After travelling 28km, you will reach the Methana peninsula.
By Bus
Methana is accessible from Athens by the KTEL long-distance bus network. The KTEL station is located in the Kifissos area of central Athens, which can be reached by taxi or metro, with the closest stations being Sepolia and Agios Antonios. Buses heading to Galatas (serving Poros, Hydra, and Methana) operate from Monday to Friday and on Sundays at 16:30. [Bus Ticket Info]

During the summer months, ferries to Methana runs almost daily connecting from Athens via the Piraeus port. Ferry routes to Methana and tickets can be purchased through various shipping companies, such as Saronic Ferries.
Piraeus port can be reached via the electric railway Line1 or the Suburban railway which are located directly opposite the port entrance near gate E5. For ferries to Methana the gate is E8, Argosaronicos. [Map of Piraeus port] and [Arrivals & Departures of ferries]
