Isobel Warmelink

Isobel Warmelink started playing the violin when she was four years old. At the age of nine, she was admitted to the Young Talent Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she studied with Koosje van Haeringen. She enrolled at the same conservatory, joining Vera Beths’s studio, in 2013.

Isobel has served as principal violinist of the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and the Aurora Festival Orchestra in Sweden, and was appointed principal violinist of the Royal Conservatoire Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev in September 2017.

As a child, Warmelink regularly won prizes at Dutch youth competitions, subsequently going on to take part in bigger violin competitions. She won second prize in the national finals of the 2012 Princess Christina Competition and first prize, the audience prize and prize for best performance of a contemporary work at the 2013 Davina van Wely Competition.

Isobel performs frequently with pianist Natasja Douma. She has given solo performances with a number of orchestras including the Royal Conservatoire Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam, the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Símon Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.

Isobel plays a violin built by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi in 1755 and a bow built by Eugène Sartory around 1900, both of which are on loan to her from the Dutch National Musical Instruments Fund.
