Bright from the Start is responsible for meeting the child care and early education needs of Georgia’s children and their families. It administers the nationally recognized Georgia’s Pre-K Program, licenses child care centers and home-based child care, administers Georgia's Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program, federal nutrition programs, and manages Quality Rated, Georgia’s community powered child care rating system.
The Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program is designed to help low income families afford safe quality child care. The CAPS program is administered in all 159 Georgia counties by the local county Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS).The CAPS program can subsidize the cost of child care for children who are US citizens or legal residents and under age 13.
COMPASS is a quick and easy way for people in Georgia to get answers to questions about health and human services. For those families needing assistance for childcare through CAPS, this is where the application process begins.
