Flamingoo Foods needs a new irrigation system to enable Tanzanian rice farmers across Southeast Africa to frequently provide more water. Rice Farmers in Southeast Africa are currently facing water insecurity, having to rely on rainwater, and the traditional irrigation system being expensive makes it difficult for farmers to grow their crops. Flamingoo Foods urgently needs a more efficient and affordable irrigation method to provide water so rice farmers can grow their crops faster and prevent food insecurity/starvation.
By Week 7 of the quarter, design a complete solar-powered irrigation system using polytubes that meets Flamingoo Foods’ technical requirements and can support at least one pilot rice farm.
By the time the project is complete, evaluate environmental impacts and include at least two mitigation alternatives in our final design.
By Week 9, we will have a prototype of what we want to build for our clients, have a model of it made, either hand-drawn, and come up with a list of materials needed and all the different platforms and tools we will need for the project, so the budget lines up with the work we do.
