Many Hebrew-speakers learners of English as a second language have a difficult time with the verb "to be" in English because it has no equivalent in Hebrew. While in Hebrew we simply say "I", "You", etc., in English we must use the verb "to be" when we make an affirmative statement or when we use present progressive. For example, in Hebrew we say "אני מורה", but in English we say "I am a teacher". In Hebrew we say "אני מפליג" but in English we say "I am sailing". So, before everything else, English learners must learn how to use the verb to be in the present tense, i.e., AM, IS, and ARE.
