Hi! My name is Nirit Ben-Ari and I am an English teacher. Before I became an English teacher, I was an academic and a journlaist. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science in 2010 from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. After I graduated, I taught Political Science in Hunter College and Lehman College in New York, and in Sapir College, Emek Izrael College, Bezalel, Beit Berl College, and the Interdisciplinary Center in Israel. I was also a journlist and I wrote for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
In 2015 I decided that I want a change - I wanted to become an English teacher! So I went back to school, sitting as a student in the same room where a few years earlier I was standing as a teacher in Beit Berl College. It was a humbling experience, and also a very empowering one. Teaching young children is a completely different experience from teaching adults. I had to re-learn how to teach. Will I be able to make the switch? I wasn't sure at first, but after two years in the program, I found out it was so much better than what I excepted!
I love teaching, I love the English language, and I love English-speaking cultures and literature. I hope you will enjoy studying it, too!
