The venue of the event is Kyushu University's Nishijin Plaza, which is quite central and easy to get to. Nishijin (西新) Subway Station is about 600m from the venue. Make sure to get out at EXIT 7.
Air
Fukuoka Airport is conveniently located not very far (10-15 minutes ride) from the city centre. It is connected to most major airports in Asia, but if you are flying in from further afield you will probably have to change at a hub such as Tokyo, Osaka, Incheon, Hong Kong or Shanghai.
Train
If you are coming from within Japan, you might want to get the shinkansen to Hakata.
Subway
Fukuoka has an underground network which is easy to use. Fukuoka Airport Domestic Terminal is directly connected to the subway network. If you arrive at the International Terminal, you will first have to take the free shuttle bus (about 5-10 min) to the Domestic Terminal to reach the subway, which then connects to the inner city. The other alternative is to get a taxi.
Bus
There are also various bus services, but buses are typically slower and may be harder to use if you can't read Japanese.
Taxi
You can get a taxi from the airport. It will probably cost about Yen 1500-2000 to Hakata, and 2000-2500 to Tenjin. No tips are needed or expected in Japan.
There are a wide range of hotels in central Fukuoka, such as around Tenjin and Hakata. Because the cherry blossom viewing season (end of March) is quite popular with tourists, it is best to book early.
