ICT (Innovations in Teaching and Learning)
Due to the emergence of the use of new technologies in academic, research and administrative functioning; smart classrooms; and the availability of open educational resources with new tools of e content storage; their delivery and evaluation, it has become inevitable to initiate, enhance and sustain these practices during curriculum delivery. Hence many innovative practices in this regard has been started by the English Department. Teaching now has become synchronized and asynchronized. It has become self paced. E content has become handy and easily accessible with just a few clicks of fingers. During the COVID-19, technology was all the more and the only means of reaching and connecting with the students. Department of English took the challenges and and use technological e platforms like ZOOM, Google Meet, X Recorder, Screeno-castomatic, Microsoft Edge for lecture delivery; e tools and software like PPTs, MS word, Excel Sheet and Adobe readers for content storage and delivery. Educational material on OERs like you tube is linked and used to enhance the understanding of the syllabi texts. For evaluation and collaborative teaching and learning Google forms, Google Docs and Google Sheets have also been used by the department. It is noteworthy that Department of English has actually launched LMS (Learning Management System -- Google Classroom, MOODLE, for content reservoir, delivery and assessment of the students. Thus both blended and flipped types of learning have been undertaken by the department.
Besides this, English Department is running English Language Lab since its establishment in 2009. Students avail the facility by using the Language Enhancement Software. There are fourteen computers in the English lab for the students to use.
