English department of N.H.College Bramhpuri not only provides academic education but also overall development of the students. To achieve this end they are provided platform to unleash their potential and talents through English Literary Association. Every year English Literary Association hold essay competition, debate completion, Elocution etc. To make students professional and competent for competitive exams and campus interview, department runs Language Enhancement and Personality Development Course, UGC sponsored Certificate Course in Functional English etc. P.G. course in English was started in the session 2008-09 and is running successfully.
Department has a long history of competent and efficient teachers. It got benefited from the services of Rtd. Professors namely A.K.Hazra, R.S.Singh, P.K.Kotia and R.K.Choubey. All of them got retired by the end of session 2003-04. The dept. has four full-time Asst. Professors now. Three faculty namely Mr.M.A.Sheikh, Mr.S.G.Choudhari and Mr.M.A.Pathade are NET qualified. Three faculty are Ph.D.Supervisors. Department is also availing the services of well experienced and highly qualified visiting faculties from the vicinity to teach P.G. classes along with the regular faculty. All the faculty members are actively involved in the latest trends and developments in their discipline and research. To achieve this end they consistently participate and present research papers in state, national and international seminars, conferences and workshops. UGC Sponsored Certificate course in Functional English is designed by Mr.M.A.Sheikh, Head of the department and got sanctioned by BoS, R.TM.Nagpur University, Nagpur. It is also approved by BoS Humanities Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. Departmement runs Learning Management System (LMS) through Google Classrooms, departmental website. It also uses various ICT aided platforms like Screenocastomatic, Google meet, Zoom app along with PPTs and you tubes to carry out synchronising and asynchronising pedagody.
Department of English has been approved as a research centre for higher learning, research and Specialized Studies. At present 05 researchers are pursuing Ph.D. at the research centre.
