Final Reflection.
Although my assignments and portfolio do not show it I actually learned a lot from this course. It was a different, unique course, yet rigorous and challenging what I am comfortable with. Before whenever I had a writing assignment I would sometimes if I felt like it, make a rough draft, especially if it was a big and important assignment. Other times I would just make the final draft and submit it. I’ve always been confident with my writing skills, I’m not the best but I can hold my ground. After taking this class I can confidently say that I will start making rough drafts every or at least more often for my writing assignments and have them peer-reviewed. On project 5 I received lots of helpful feedback on how to make it better. I obtained advice that I wouldn’t have thought about.
One thing that I can clearly remember from when I took AP Language is that I heavily struggled with rhetorical analysis. I would see how my classmates would understand it and grasp the concept with ease while I on the other hand struggled to connect the pieces. I always had to think harder and diligently compared to my classmates but now through the rhetorical analysis that we had to do for project 3 it has made me better at it. I can now analyze articles faster and easier than before and be able to put my past overthinking into better use in critical thinking creating posters like done in project 4. In project 5 I was able to further practice citing and documenting outside sources into my compositions. I learned to be specific and constantly think of my audience while writing my compositions throughout the course. For example, project 5 and project 3. In project 3 we created flyer to aid in the adoption of older dogs at the Humane Society of Camden County, our audience, animal lovers, was kept in mind throughout the creation, thinking, and brainstorming of the partnership between us and a community partner in my case with the rest of my group, the Humane Society of Camden County.
Throughout the course, I learned how to be more specific, perform rhetorical analysis easier than before. Learned how to work with a community partner and work alongside side groupmates who you have never met before. Learned to communicate better to obtain set goals and to think of writing as a process that takes time.
