Hi guys! My name is Kate Krawetzky and it’s October 7, 2020. Today, I’m going to be analyzing an article off of the New York Times by Giovanni Russonello called, Trust in Trump’s Virus Response is Falling. What Does it Mean for November? Alright! Here we go! Although we’ve really never experienced a pandemic to this extent before within anyone else’s presidency previous to president Trump, citizens are quickly losing hope and are getting discouraged towards how president Trump is handling the pandemic. Russonello informs us of different perspectives from the American citizens.
As the article states, a poll was taken by CNN earlier this week and it was gathered that 43 percent of people of the ages 65 and older said that Trump was doing all that he could with an outbreak this large. Another 55 percent said that he was not doing enough. It was also said that registered voters were the ones to leave their opinions on how the government was handling the pandemic, more so than those who do not vote.
Voters with different personal beliefs obviously are between different factors than others are. Liberals often take a higher interest in health care, and conservatives more so, take forign affairs into consideration.
This impacts everyone in different ways in which it affects some more so than others. This article has also shown that not everyone agrees and that it’s ok to agree to disagree. It has also caused a lot of people to turn into silent majority. A lot of citizens no longer want to share their political beliefs because overtime, everything has become so aggressive and violent that some feel as though they need to keep quiet. It has gotten exceptionally worse so COVID-19 made its appearance for the first time.
With all of this being said, unfortunately, President Trump has gotten more of a bad wrap based on how he has handled the pandemic. Many people say that not only Trump, but also the federal government should be doing more to have helped prevent the spread of the virus as wide as it did. A short of 14 percent said that the government has done a terrible job of preventing the virus’s spread.
Not only do people feel as though there is someone here to blame other than themselves, people are going after our president more so than ever before. Many aspects of the violence are very inappropriate, which is the citizens causing it. They are doing that on their own, they are choosing to do it. President Trump had been working to the best of his ability, including through the whole COVID-29 outbreak as an inexperienced pandemic presidency.
I did enjoy reading this article and hearing opposite perspectives than what I personally believe. This article definitely deemed like it would trigger certain parties based on who it was directed towards.
Thank you guys for taking the time to listen to my analysis and have a great Wednesday!
