About Me
My name is Alyssa Green and I am a student in Dr.McGinnis' English 1101/1102 class. My hobbies include dancing and playing with my dogs at home. I am currently a student at Jill Stanford Dance Studio where I have spent 10 years dancing. Dance is my favorite way to escape from reality and take a break from the stress around me. I am forever grateful for all of the relationships I have created with my dance family and their overwhelming support for me and my goals. Intertwined in this family are dancers from many different forms. For me, I focus my attention on ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, and contemporary(my favorite).

This picture was taken at one of my dance competitions in 2021. Pictured is me performing my Contemporary Solo.
However, when my schedule is free on some days, I enjoy resting with my 3 dogs. First is Rory, our 2 year old Labradoodle who is the most energetic out of all. Next is our 14 year old rescue, Maggie, who loves to sleep and sun-bathe. Last is Bella, our 4 year old Shih-Tzu who enjoys playtime with Rory and tug of war fights. On lazy days, these girls are my best friends and I can always count on them to cheer me up.

To go along with my hobbies, I also love travelling. My favorite place in the entire world is New York, where the lights and hustle doesn't bother me. I enjoy sight-seeing and looking into the amazing architecture of the city. My favorite time to visit New York is in the Winter, when it snows and the air is cool. Having this change of scenery away from home helps me enjoy nature and the world around me physically rather than digitally.

Project Descriptions
ENGL1101:
Project 1: In this project, we were required to rhetorically analyze ourselves and the different aspects of our personality. This project allowed me to discover different parts of my personality that I never knew existed. Also, I was able to further my relationships with my classmates as I began to read their analyses and learn about their true inner selves.
Project 2: This project required setting up a podcast account in order to rhetorically analyze an article of our choice. This helped me deeper my knowledge and understanding of rhetorical appeals and how they are used in everyday readings/ news articles.
Project 3: We created 3 informative videos for this community service learning project. Our partner, Glynn County Animal Control, suggested we advocate for flea/tick prevention, pet vaccinations, and heartworm prevention. Therefore, whilst researching these topics, my group and I learned about the importance of these issues and how they can be helped.
Project 4: Building off of Project 3, my group and I created a symposium poster based on the information mentioned above. This helped me understand visual appeals when building posters and other visual media.
Project 5: Finally, in this project, we were required to examine and analyze sexists public media and how different controversial aspects are portrayed. This project opened my eyes to the different subtle messages that form society's thinking.
