Anthony Engler joined Louisiana State University in Fall 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering. Previously, he earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas (2015) where he discovered his passion for polymer science and engineering while conducting undergraduate research in the lab of Prof. C. Grant Willson. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (2020) under the supervision of Prof. Paul Kohl studying degradable polymers. Parallel to a postdoctoral position investigating polymer electrolytes for Li-metal batteries, he co-founded a startup company to commercialize patented polymer technologies.

Nicolas grew up in Houston, Texas and received his B.S. in Pittsburgh. He joined the Engler Lab in 2023 after deciding to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. His research interests shifted from fundamental polymer chemistry to engineering after his undergraduate research experience. His current research focuses on developing ion exchange membranes to address challenges with the energy transition and carbon dioxide utilization.
B.S. Chemistry - University of Pittsburgh
Ben was raised in upstate New York, far from the city and deep in the mountains. At a young age he found himself fascinated by science and knew he wanted to pursue a career in research. Two decades later he's realizing those science driven ambitions at LSU by pursuing a PhD researching novel degradable polymers and working to become part of the next generation of scientists.
B.S. Chemistry - LeTourneau University
Peyman Sadeghi is a Ph.D. student with a strong passion for nanomanufacturing and the ever-evolving world of semiconductor technology. With a master’s degree in polymer engineering and several years of industry experience, he is eager to apply his background and expertise within the Engler Lab. Peyman is highly motivated to learn, contribute meaningfully, and grow as a researcher in this dynamic and innovative area.
M.S. Polymer Engineering - University of Tehran
B.S. Polymer Engineering - Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic)
Ali Parastesh earned his bachelor's degree from Persian Gulf University in Bushehr in 2018 and completed his master's in chemical engineering at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran in 2024, where he worked on developing novel photocatalysts for enhanced water treatment. Ali is co-advised by Prof. Phil Sprunger from the LSU Physics department and works at the LSU Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD), where he conducts EUV spectroscopic studies on photoresists. Outside of his academic work, he is an avid tennis player.
