In this Carl's Jr./ Hardee's commercial, Kate Upton models for a very objectifying commercial. The commercial is advertising a Southwest Patty Melt, In this screenshot, you can see that Kate is all sweaty and is rubbing her hands down her chest. This whole commercial uses Kate as an object to lure men into a Hardee's or a Carl's Jr. Not only is this commercial inappropriate to viewers such as kids, but this commercial alone could ruin someone's experience at the restaurant without even going in. The commercial setting is based in a old drive in parking lot where Kate starts to undress while handling a good looking burger.
The people who made this commercial is clear as air trying to connect with the males. Using Kate Upton's breast as a lure into the burger joint is just absolutely unacceptable. I can almost promise you that this ad brought more revenue in then the actual burger its self. In Jean Kilbourne's film Killing Us Softly 4 she used a phrase I jotted down in my notes that said, "Ads sell more than product." I completely agree with Kilbourne on that. Nowadays companies use "perfect" women to sell their products and that isn't fair to women in this world at all. If I were a female i would want to look exactly like Kate Upton because why not? Big boobs, tight body, small waist is what this world puts as a "perfect" woman.
As the ad goes on and on, Kate puts her self in various sexual positions that catch the eyes of almost anyone. From bending over and almost getting naked, if the target crowd isn't at a Hardee's after this than I don't know what they are doing. This is what the future generations are growing up and seeing as the norm. Doing commercials like this shouldn't even be legal.
Here you can tell the guy's girl isn't amused by what Kate is doing beside them. In Killing Us Softly 4, Jean said ,"Ads make women feel like they aren't good enough for themselves or their own husband." That to me is not fair to other women that aren't "perfect". This whole commercial was clear objectifying women. From being naked to bending over the car with a burger, this whole ad was definitely only for guys, but the women got stuck in the cross hairs of this sick ad.
