Social distancing has not been easy, especially for teachers. Teachers certainly miss seeing all of their students each and every day in the classrooms. To pass by the time, Miss Hunt has been doing many different activities to keep herself busy!
Miss Hunt also updates her classroom twitter page regularly with important updates from not only her class, but also Waltham Public Schools. Please be sure to give her a follow @MsHuntClassroom!
One thing that Miss Hunt has been able to do throughout her time social distancing is running and adding miles to her marathon training. If you did not already know, Miss Hunt is training to run the New York City Marathon in the fall. She has been carefully running while practicing social distancing and training away from other muggles.
Sadly, the Boston Run to Remember to support Boston's First Responders has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Miss Hunt completed the 13.1 miles virtually on Tuesday, April 28th. She is very excited to share that not only did she run the 13.1 while following social distancing rules, Miss Hunt also beat her previous half marathon time and nearly 20 minutes. She ran the 13.1 miles in under 2 hours! Woo!
Miss Hunt has been expanding her island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Miss Hunt named her island Eeylops, which is the name of Owl Emporium in Harry Potter. Every day, she has been taking care of the flowers and fruit on her island and moving in new residents. One thing Miss Hunt really dislikes about Animal Crossing is the tarantulas and wasp nests.
Miss Hunt also is a very big fan of the turn up lady and purchased 1500 turn ups this week at 95 bells each. Check back to see how much of a profit she made!
If you know Miss Hunt, you know she loves Harry Potter and LEGOs. To take some breaks away from electronics and TV, she has been building a scene from Harry Potter out of 922 pieces of legos. Can you guess which scene it is? I'll give you a hint: it is from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Miss Hunt recently put together Professor Moody's classroom. If you look closely, you can see the writing on his chalk board and the Goblet of Fire!
Miss Hunt has also been catching up on some reading that she hasn't had the chance to get around to recently. Before social distancing came into effect, Miss Hunt got her hands on a Hufflepuff edition of Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone. Now of course, Miss Hunt has already read this entire novel (and series), but she decided to reread the story again to take some breaks away from the electronics and TV. And yes, if you are wondering, Miss Hunt would absolutely be sorted into the Hufflepuff house.
Pebble and Nestle have been over the moon excited to have their entire family home. They have been enjoying the daily snuggles, meeting my students, and having omelettes for breakfast every now and then. Their play time has tripled, their walks have doubled, and the treats are endless.
We recently had the chance to celebrate Pebble's 1st birthday. She began her morning playing with a new bone and rope toy. Then she had a cheese omelette for breakfast and a puppy ice cream for her dessert!
Miss Hunt has absolutely missed her students. It is difficult to go from seeing students 5 days a week to all the sudden not at all. She has made it a priority to talk to as many students as possible throughout social distancing on Google Meet.
Some of the things we discuss on Google Meet are curriculum related topics, how social distancing is going, and our pets. Please feel free to join us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30 - 1:30 while we play some GimKit/Kahoot. And yes, if you are wondering, her dogs will also be playing.
