As teachers, we understand that remote learning can be difficult. Waltham Public Schools has developed a system for the grading of Term 3 and for Term 4. Here is what it looks like for TechEd.
If you choose to participate in Live Gimkit/Kahoot sessions, you must actively participate in the game in order to receive credit towards a passing grade. Please do not play video games, watch tiktoks, or simply leave the GimKit/ Kahoot game up on your computer without playing.
GimKit & Kahoot notify me on who was actively playing the game and who was not. This means that I can see if you did not participate. If you would like to receive credit toward your passing grade, please make sure you enter your first and last name or let me know who you are!
Please send me an email if you have any questions of concerns.
The grade you see in Plus Portal is your grade for Term 3. If you would like to raise your grade for term 3, you may participate in the following activities to receive extra credit:
Weekly Enrichment Challenges
Live Gimkit & Kahoot games
You have until Monday, May 4th to submit extra credit for Term 3. Grades for Term 3 will be closed and published to Portals on Friday, May 15th.
If we go back to school on May 4th:
You will begin receiving a letter grade starting on May 4th. Term 3 and term 4 will be averaged for your yearly final grade.
If we do not go back to school on May 4th:
Term 4 will be considered a Pass/Fail for all students and your passing score will be based on weekly participation and engagement on at home learning activities.
Active Engagement can include:
Completing Weekly GimKit/Kahoot/Quizziz Assignments
Participating in Weekly Live Gimkits/Kahoots
Completion of Weekly Enrichment Challenges
You must complete weekly activities in order to receive a passing score in TechEd. You may choose from any of the 3 options above to participate in. You may choose to do an assignment one week and a challenge the next. You can mix and match what options you choose to do. You do not need to complete all options each week. Failure to participate and engage in activities will result in a failing grade for term 4.
You would have until June 1st to complete any make up work or extra credit for Term 3.
