Here Is Our Project!
Flamingoo Foods needs a new irrigation system to give Tanzanian rice farmers across Southeast Africa water more often. Right now, water insecurity, relying on seasonal rain, and expensive traditional irrigation systems make it hard for farmers to grow their crops. They urgently need a better and more affordable way to get water so their crops can grow faster and help prevent food insecurity and starvation.
Our Goals:
By Week 7 of the quarter, design a complete solar-powered irrigation system using polytubes that meets Flamingoo Foods’ technical requirements and can support at least one pilot rice farm.
By Week 9, we will have a prototype of what we want to build for our clients, have a model of it made, either hand-drawn, and come up with a list of materials needed and all the different platforms and tools we will need for the project, so the budget lines up with the work we do.
By the time the project is complete, evaluate environmental impacts and include at least two mitigation alternatives in our final design.
