EASF's Update about Security & Privacy

Dear EASF participants,

EASF webinar is an online, public, non-profit platform. Its security and participants’ privacy are very important to us. Therefore, to provide a safe environment for our webinar events and to prevent malicious interruptions caused by the mischief or any other intended offensive behaviors, we will enforce the following constraints to all participants of the EASF webinar, including:

  1. All participants need to register and enter a waiting room first and then join the webinar.

  2. Non-host zoom participants are prohibited to share their screens and make annotations.

  3. During the talk, all non-host zoom participants will be muted and are not allowed to unmute themselves. During the Q&A section, they can raise their hands to get permission from the host/co-host(s) to unmute themselves.

  4. If we do detect something risky or may affect the speaker’s talk, we will block the suspicious user’s account or any other possible security threats. If these risks are what we think you should know about, we will notify you. If you detect any suspicious activities, please don’t hesitate to tell us (the executive committee or the zoom host).

  5. For non-speakers, we will not collect any personal, confidential information from you, so we are not responsible for any third party's actions or their security controls with respect to information that third parties may collect or process via their websites, services, or otherwise.

  6. For EASF speakers, we only collect limited information from you including your bio, your talk title and abstract, and the video agreement document through our official email and our committee member’s email. We will not collect any other personal information from you.

  7. For EASF speakers, we will send the recorded video of your talk to you and upload it to our youtube channel (EASF Group Channel) and other social media after we receive your agreement.

EASF is trying to strengthen the worldwide academic connection among young researchers, and build this welcoming, collaborative, thriving, and safe community. Your understanding and support are very much appreciated. Please keep following our future events!

Sincerely,

EASF Season 4 Committee
