The Niche
One of the most important features that help Margays in their environment is their hind legs. Since these animals spend most of their time on treetops and primarily hunt on high ground, their joints are capable of making a complete 180 rotation for quick movements in chasing prey and climbing the canopies. These cats also have a long tail that is almost as long as 70% of their body and helps with the movement of walking vertically up and down trees.

Monkeys, birds, and lizards have one thing in common and that is being preyed on by the Leopardus wiedii. Eggs, fruits, and insects are also on the menu as there is a variety of food options. Surprisingly, insects can be found in a third of their feces. It is a common fact that cats are independent and it is the same case goes for the Margay. They rather tend to themselves and are not a fan of having company, the only exception would be living with their kittens.
