Over my many years of schooling, I would say I’ve had to write every type of essay at least once from narrative, to argumentative, reflective, descriptive, analytical, etc. My favorite genre of essay has always been argumentative. When trying to persuade an audience I am most convincing when I am absolutely sure of the point I am trying to make. I would say these type of writing assignments were very easy for me to complete because partaking in a debate doesn’t feel like a chore for me. I enjoy expressing my ideas about the subject I’m passionate about and bouncing them off of other people. I do better articulating my thoughts on paper than saying them out loud in front of an audience. The exigience that produces some of my best writing would be ones that motivate collecting data from sources while also having the freedom to incorporate my opinion into the piece. Argumentative essays best fit the criteria especially in subjects that I’m passionate about like philosophy and psychology.
