When working for Ruthie Ginsburg at her home in Wellesley MA for two years on Jewish domestic violence data and programs, Elayne photographed two events. Photo credit was either given to "The Coming Light," the name of Elayne's photography business, or "Elaine."Â See segments from newsletters below. (Note: Ruthie Ginsburg has since passed into the Light but her volunteer efforts and charitable donations in the domestic violence community were greatly appreciated.)
Ruth Ginsburg was a graduate of Simmons College. She got into domestic violence when a former classmate named Betsy McCandless was stalked and killed by her husband while she was in hiding in another state. The Simmons classmates created the Betsy McCandless fund and produced a documentary that has been shown throughtout the years in numerous domestic violence organizations. Elayne took the two photos of the Betsy McCandless Memorial Committee on the steps of Simmons College during "Relationship Violence Awareness Week, September 1997." Her credit is listed as "Photos by Elaine."
On 4/7/97 Jewish Women International (JWI) held an innovative two-day conference at Brandeis University titled "Shalom Bayit Conference." This work was largely organized by Ruthie Ginsburg and her assistant Elayne Neal. Two of Elayne's photos got in Women's World, Summer 1997 under the title "JWI Conference Breaks New Ground." Credits were given to "The Coming Light" in the upper right of the photos.
