The hybrid panel discussion “UTSUWA DANGI-II” that kicked off the event brought together Japanese and German craftsmen, experts, and end users to exchange views on the present and future of handicrafts.
The Japanese hand tool workshop “Sharpening and Adjusting Planes” (for professionals) that followed provided a unique opportunity to ask questions directly to Japanese carpenters, and the participating craftsmen listened attentively and learned about their techniques.
The evening session, “#OPENMONDAY,” featured a number of programs. Assembly demonstration of UTSUWA 3.1 (assembled Japanese-style room), which was upgraded this year, was shown.
Participants competed in a planing contest, with the winner receiving an extra prize of support for participation in either the Osaka Regional Development Study Group or EXPO 2025. Chopstick making for beginners and Kumiko workshops were also popular.
