Emre Akanak - Bio

Dr. Emre Israel Akanak; (אמרי ישראל אקאנאק) is data scientist, economist, quant and entrepreneur who holds two bachelor's degrees in economics BSc and classical archeology BA, two master's degrees in international relations MA and Finance MSc, and has Ph.D. in political economy.

His research journey started during high school education. He started (first and early) scientific studies in early school projects. Since early childhood, he had developed a deep curiosity about analyzing and explaining social phenomena from many perspectives, exploring relations multidimensionally, and discovering hidden patterns via studying interdisciplinary.

During university education, he decided to combine theoretical studies with practice. Since his university education, he has worked as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Financial Analyst, Trader, and Risk Analyst. Since his second master's degree, he has focused on predictive analytics.

As an entrepreneur and scientist, he preferred to combine his studies with his professional career, and during his master's degree, he built his first startup, and just in two years, he succeeded in exiting. His startup was acquired in 2012. During his professional career, he has experienced another startup that has created two unique and strong AI products; DeepEye and Altegena.

In 2016 he decided to move to Israel and took an analyst position in the financial industry. Meanwhile, he has continued to advance his data science studies and has followed Yandex Y-Data lessons. And got a 100% scholarship from Yandex for Practicum Data Science Program and completed it successfully.

After the program, he continued his position in his first job in Israel and decided to advance his studies. First, he exited his shares from his second startup. Then he decided to take a break in his career to submit his Ph.D. thesis and advance in data science, including advanced modeling, cliometrics, econometrics, and programming studies.

He has been studying AI, ML, DL technologies, advanced data science, and applying and combining practical AI tools with economics and econometrics methodologies to develop real-world models for real cases. And to create a genuine impact, he has decided to build a boutique data science lab, collaborate with universities, provide consultancy services, and look for his next journey in his professional career.
