Title Proposal of
ABAD
Let us not be scared to explore research!!
The title proposal for Abad was completed on March 4, 2023, during the period of practical research 1 and 2. On Abad, there are five research groups, and each group is intended to prepare three titles for presentation in the title proposal. All of the groups are thoroughly prepared for the title proposal. They are supposed to provide a PowerPoint presentation in the manner provided by our topic lecturers, with some sections that must be completed by the researchers in each group.
During our defense, some of the members per group are tense since many of them are doing title proposals for the first time. Some experience unexpected stuttering; others tremble while speaking; and they have a hard time maintaining eye contact with the panelists due to nervousness. But, despite all of it, each group delivered their proposed topic smoothly. We encounter questions, and some of the questions are barely answered. We are thankful to our subject teachers for having patience with us while we were presenting our three research title proposals. After 20–30 minutes of presenting, we come up with the best research title, and the panelists give us some revisions and pieces of advice. Although there are still some groups that don't present their title proposal well due to a lack of time that day, even though they are not presenting their title well, our subject teachers for practical research 1 and 2 considered one title in their presentation.
Insights from Abad research title proposal journey
"Research is often a journey into the unknown,
but it's also an adventure worth taking."
On our research title proposal journey, we are afraid to begin research because everyone says it is difficult, but one thing we learned from our practical research teachers is that you should not be afraid to explore research because it will provide you with new knowledge along the way; you should not be afraid to embark on a journey that will be useful to you. So, as a result of what we've learnt, we're no longer afraid of research, and we're starting to encourage other students to engage in research.
A particular appreciation to our practical research 1 and 2 teachers for their willingness to assist us with our research, as well as the practice teacher of practical research 1 for their input.
In this strand there are skills that you can learn/develop. It can help us to be more effective in our field, it can make our work and life easier. Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) is a strand that offers a wide range of skills development opportunities. Here are some skills that can be developed through HUMSS.
-Critical thinking is one of the skills we learned in this particular field. We learned how to properly assess texts and arguments.
-This is also one of the skills we gained. We build this via writing articles, presenting research, and participating in discussions, which improves our communication abilities.
-One of the skills we obtained is research skills, which indicate how we enhance our capacity to identify reliable evidence and express our points of view by presenting credible information.
-In the field, we are frequently confronted with complex difficulties including human behavior, cultural dynamics, and society institutions. As a result, we improved our problem-solving abilities.
-The strand provide us with a variety of ideas and perspectives. Part of our experience is the ability to analyze and convey those ideas in class and to others in general, whether through debates or casual interactions. We have developed arguing abilities such as speaking clearly and confidently, being spontaneous, and having enough facts.
-We strengthened our public speaking skills. This illustrates how well we can communicate and interact with our classmates, through reporting.
-Cultural awareness is one of the skills we developed in the HUMSS strand. We learned to respect different beliefs and points of view.
