Anastasia Pantazopoulou is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics at Carleton College (Northfield, MN). She is an interdisciplinary researcher and educator who aims at communicating her academic work with audiences inside-and-outside academia to create spaces for social change. Her research interests are centered around classical Athenian drama, classical reception, and digital humanities with a focus on the concepts of identity performance, otherness, and inclusivity in fifth-century BCE Athens and contemporary North America.
Anthony Smith is a 4th-year PhD candidate in the Department of Classics at the University of Florida working on a dissertation that explores katabatic journeys to the underworld in ancient epic stories - with a focus on Odysseus, Aeneas, Orpheus, and Hercules - and the influences these stories and characters have on modern fantasy and science fiction television shows like Supernatural and The Magicians. Beyond his dissertation research, he works on katabatic reception in Star Trek, metapoetry in Ovid and Vergil, and pedagogical approaches to Latin and Classics curricula.
