PURPOSE: Students will discover the humanities and some art and literature of the classical world by entering the realms of the nine Muses. This activity plays on the game "Guess Who?". This activity is designed to develop problem solving and teamwork skills.
TASK: Under the guidance of the god Apollo, students encounter nine character actors playing the Muses (through volunteer actors, pre-recorded videos, etc.) who present information to the students. For older students able to better prepare for the activity, they could be required to ask each Muse one or two questions about themselves. On the accompanying worksheet, students will make notes and mark off information about each of the Muses while properly identifying them.
FACILITATOR ROLES: Apollo, the nine Muses
Facilitators may use pre-recorded Zoom videos, images instead of live actors, or otherwise adapt to their modality and physical setting.
