"I worked on variations of the gas, water, and electricity problem, which is a puzzle involving three houses and three utilities. The goal is to connect each house to all utilities. It is actually impossible, which gave me the idea to work on finding out with how many houses and utilities it is or isn't possible. I also came up with a formula for the number of connections that would be missing."
