Latinx Graduate Student Association

(LGSA)

Mission: As the first and Latinx graduate student organization at Laney, the mission of LGSA is to build, sustain, and connect the Latinx community at Laney Graduate School, at Emory University, as well as the greater Atlanta area. Towards this end we take as our central aim to be the following: to enhance the experience of Latin@ graduate students at Laney Graduate School by creating spaces for social networking and professional development and by connecting to other graduate, undergraduate, and professional organizations within Emory. It is our belief that pivotal to enhancing the experience for Latinx graduate students as well as that of the entire graduate population at Emory requires addressing and remedying the under-representation of Latin@ faculty and students across the University. We create community and awareness through monthly “Cafecitos,” invited speakers, reading groups, faculty/student networking, undergraduate mentoring, academic conferences and social gatherings.
