Q: Do I need to come in with a partner? Or prior dance experience?
A: Nope! At our meetings, you have the opportunity to dance with many different partners. Every beginner class starts with the basics, so no prior knowledge is needed!
Q: What does an average practice look like?
A: We start by dividing into beginner and intermediate groups (pick your own level!). We then spend the lesson time working on 1-2 dance styles, with some free dance time as well when possible. Often, we spend the first part of the lesson reviewing what we taught at the last lesson.
Q: You guys just dance to old-fashioned music right?
A: Not at all! We dance to any and every genre of music. Ballroom can be danced to pop, rock, country, you name it!
Q: Is there a dress code for practice?
A: Nope! We just recommend wearing something comfortable and easy to move in. Additionally, we recommend wearing shoes with non-grip soles or even socks, as this makes moving around the floor easier.
Q: I'm unable to come to weekly practice. How else can I get involved?
A: Apart from weekly meetings, we organize excursions to social dance events throughout Atlanta most weekends, as well as monthly outreach opportunities. We also host our own socials on campus every semester!
Q: I love coming to practice! How can I get more involved?
A: As mentioned in the previous questions, we organize almost-weekly excursions to ballroom events in Atlanta, provide monthly outreach opportunities, and host our own socials. You can also join our performance group or competition team. If you are interested in either of these groups, please reach out to our gmail for more information
Q: Performance group? Competition team? What are those?
A: Our performance group and competition team are subgroups within the club. Our performance group dances at showcases on campus and in the greater Atlanta area. Our competition team dances in ballroom competitions at home and all over the country. As previously mentioned, please reach out to our gmail for more information if you are interested in joining either of these groups.
