I wrote the Brand Strategy and the Brand Plan currently in use by St Helena Tourism.
I led the creation and implementation of the first true national branding for St Helena Island, South Atlantic Ocean. In mid-2021 I began stakeholder research, and by the time I left St Helena Government in mid-2024, I'd seen the project through to the maintenance phase for the St Helena Tourism brand, and the launch phase of the government's brand.
I handled the majority of the work (both strategic and ground-level) along the way, including writing and designing the National Brand Book, organising activation events and drafting social media content. The brand has received very positive feedback from government officials, partners, stakeholders and consumers.
While working as a single-person marketing department for St Helena Government and St Helena Tourism, I undertook marketing activities such as this digital article in Wanderlust, I undertook the budget and strategy decisions; liaised with the outlet; photographed, helped write, compiled and edited the content; and reported on performance data.
This immersive digital article is only an example of branded content that I've helped to lead or create. I have created collateral and content from pull-up banners to digital advertisements, and have headed strategies and plans for distribution.
I created this video for St Helena Government in 2024. I scripted and produced this video in order to replace a PowerPoint-based lecture to engage St Helena Government employees, raising awareness of what a 'brand' is and why it's important, whilst purposefully never using the word 'brand' (due to negative local connotation). I also did the voice over.
I have created and led brand activation events, most notably Jonathan's 190th Birthday. Working with FINN Partners, the activation event won the 2023 Travel Marketing Award, Gold): PR Campaign Up to 50k Spend, and the PRCA Platinum Media Relations Award 2023.
I've carried out PR and communications work for St Helena Government including St Helena Tourism, as well as for various of its partnerships. I've assisted the Liberated African Advisory Committee (LAAC) with managing and writing website content, drafting and editing press releases, recreating signage/information points, and drafting international media statements. I also worked with the FCDO Communications department to create a Communications Plan for the LAAC.
I've worked with Adobe InDesign to create content for yearbooks, magazines, infographics, newspapers, print and digital advertisements, and official materials such as government strategies and St Helena's brand booklet.
