CyberSpawns: 2D RTS Mobile Game
Multi-Faceted Spawn Progression: Cyberspawns can be levelled up and bred for new variations with new unique skill sets. This offers players multiple avenues to develop their monster teams. Newly acquired spawns can quickly join the player's regular roster by syphoning experience from older spawns via the Sync Pad system.
E-pad and Cyberspawn Memory Management: Cyberspawns avoids the traditional energy system by introducing the E-pad memory management system, where constant use of spawns accumulates data in their memory, rendering them unusable in battle until said data is processed and cleared. This mechanic pushes players to prioritize strategic depth over mindless grinding and encourages the acquisition of many spawns and the creation of diverse teams. The E-pad system is deeply integrated into Cyberspawns' lore. Cyberspawns, being nanotech creatures, accumulate data from battles. This data can be beneficial, but excessive accumulation overstrains their systems, mirroring real-world concerns about information overload and dirty data.
Nani-bots for Asynchronous Data Processing: Nani-bots add a layer of collection and strategy to the E-pad system, allowing players to optimize their Cyberspawn maintenance and rewarding them for it.
I led the design and project management of Cyberspawns, a mobile real-time strategy game at Quiva Games. In this game, players become Legend characters, trainers of cybernetic creatures called Cyberspawns, a celebration of human advancements in nanotechnology, created as a way for a busy father to connect with his child and evolving into a large-scale entertainment medium.
Key Design Features:
Collect and Train Cyberspawns: Across five classes, each Cyberspawn has unique skills and strategic roles, allowing for diverse and custom team builds.
Diverse Legend Playstyles: Having Daredevils, Mechs, and Bio-gents as Legend classes caters to different player preferences. This allows for strategic team compositions based on desired playstyles. Each Legend's unique personality, backstory and views on what a trainer's relationship with their spawns should be like, can allow players to connect with these characters and be further immersed in the game's world.
Donkus The Brave : 2D Turn-based puzzle game
2D turn-based puzzle adventure submission for the 2023 GMTK 48 hour game jam with the theme of Role Reversal. I made this together with several talented people, and I contributed as a game mechanics and narrative designer. For the full list of credits, please see the submission page.
Play as a doting, all powerful wizard who has to safety proof dungeons for your child, who wants to be an amazing adventurer just like you.
You have to guide him, eliminate threats and even leave him treasures to find. Making the experience too safe will result in him not having any fun, making it too hard will result in him ... not having any fun either ( every game designers dilemma ), and he absolutely can not discover you, so you have to stay hidden, manage your resources and balance safety and a prime adventure experience.
Hex Endangered: Virtual Reality Escape Room Game
This is a ghost themed escape room VR game who's concept I came up with, ideated and built all within one weekend, as a submission project for the VR Jan Jam game jam. Solo project.
The story (and gameplay) goes thus:
Embody a poltergeist specialist as she frees trapped ghosts from the mortal plane and thwarts those who would seek to use restless spirits for their own diabolical, greedy and sometimes just silly devices.
The city of Lagos is filled with opportunity and even more with crime. All gather from small rural areas to the big city in search of a better life and good fortune. Rumor has it that the rich bind souls of the dead to wide eyed new comers to make the latter more successful while the former reaps the profit. Could this be true?
After sensing a strange outer plane presence at a party, you decide to unearth the truths about this rumor yourself.
In your astral projected form, use your right hand to weave spells, hold your palm out in front of an object and pull back on the thumbstick to drag it towards you.
Push forward on the thumbstick to teleport.
Use your wits, your gut and maybe even sheer luck to free trapped spirits from their vessels and win the game!
African Highland Farmer: WebGL Game
A solo project. A farming simulator set in the Jos plateaus of Nigeria, to teach sustainable farming practices to farmers and farming enthusiasts and attract youths to the wondrous world of agriculture.
This game was once again made by just me, however all 2D assets (except the farmer and his family characters which were created by yours truly using Adobe Illustrator) were provided by the Farmz2u startup, the AgriTech startup I built the game for. This game was built using the Unity 2020.3.
Animal Guard: Mobile Game
A solo project. Animal guard is a cute endless runner starring brave cats and raccoons trying to keep nasty rats and dogs of their streets. There's also a huggable penguin far off to the north fighting very magical adversaries.
This game has google play achievements, leaderboards, ads and In App purchases fully integrated and developed by just me, although I couldn't have done it without some assets I obtained online of which full credit is given to artists and creators in the app. Different locations in the game are unlocked by completing certain challenges. Just because its technically an endless runner doesn't mean you have to run forever. This game was developed using Unity 2019.4.
