In November 2019, West staged the religious opera Nebuchadnezzar at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which found West reading Bible verses offstage amid wordless singing from the Sunday Service Choir. All of our 1st-6th grade students participate in Elementary choir and perform in both our Winter and Spring concerts! In the 5th and 6th grades, our students are introduced to handbells to allow them the option to play in middle school and high school.

Both middle school and high school have the opportunity to join choir and handbells and perform in our Winter and Spring recitals. They also will be given the opportunity to compete in the NEACS Fine Arts Competition. Additionally, we provide our students with real-world opportunities for applying musical skills by having a worship team to lead worship during our weekly chapels.

Beginner group lessons are for students in 2nd-12th grade who are interested in playing the piano! This is an introductory course to learn the basics of playing the piano, as well as mastering a repertoire of 10 total songs. The goal of group lessons is to give students a chance to learn the basics with other students in their same age groups to advance to private lessons!

Private lessons are available for students of all ages and all levels! Students who complete the requirements in group piano lessons will be recommended to advance to private lessons. Private lessons are tailored for individual students to meet their specific needs and goals. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded, educational experience, teaching students to be able to both sight read and play by ear! As students progress, the school has multiple opportunities for students to perform in recitals and competitions, as well as gain practical experience by accompanying songs for chapel.

These concepts are expanded for first through third graders in Music Makers and fourth through sixth graders in Young Musicians. The choir programs build upon one another until the children emerge equipped to enjoy music through knowledge of its methods, its richness, and its ability to express their worship of God.

Teenagers are given opportunities to explore and develop their musical gifts as they participate in Youth Choir. The Youth choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons and welcomes youth from other churches which do not offer youth music programs.

Emmanuel College students enjoy a wide array of options to engage in bands, orchestras and choirs spanning various genres, styles, and skill levels. It's worth noting that a significant number of our Year 12 graduates opt to pursue tertiary-level music studies, and we believe that our music program plays a pivotal role in preparing them for continued excellence in their chosen instruments.

The Purpose of Edification - "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God" (Colossians 3:16).

During the summer when the choir is in recess, Emmanuel is fortunate to have special music each Sunday provided by participants in the Bay View Music Festival, the longest continuously operating chamber music festival in the United States. Having these outstanding young musicians share their gifts is made possible through the generosity of Emmanuel members.

The series of concerts, which have been going on for two years, is meant to raise awareness and aid children suffering from various forms of cancer. Since starting the series, Celestial Evangel Choir has managed to raise over thirty-six thousand cedis in charitable donations for the cause. According to the PRO of the choir, this has gone on to benefit 100 children.

The Hope Alive series of concerts was started after the choir successfully raised funds for the Pediatric Unit at KATH during their Easter concert in 2014. Since December that same year, they have toured several churches with their message in Accra and Kumasi, including Calvary Charismatic Center at Ayigya, Winners Chapel in Accra, Global Evangelical Church and Family Chapel.

The choir, which has among its members several medical professionals and students, chose to focus on children suffering from cancer after visiting the unit to perform and discovering a dire need that they could address with their voices.

The Celestial Evangel Choir, as part of the activities marking its 5th anniversary celebration has deemed it fit to explore their potentials in contemporary music. Tomorrow, they will indulge us with the dulcet sounds of their choir accompanying Minister Nii Okai.

Many choirs worldwide have this oratorio as part of their repertoire. In Ghana, Harmonious Chorale, The University Choir - KNUST, The Philharmonic Choir - Tema, and others have all performed this oratorio in full. This year, Celestial Evangel Choir from Kumasi joins that number.

This concert is also the first ticketed event organised by the choir, which engages primarily in charitable work targeted at grave health issues. The performance comes as the latest act in the choirs fight against childhood cancer in Ghana and around the world.
