A Journey from Impulse to Reflection
Many times in my life, I found myself acting impulsively—responding too quickly and intensely to the circumstances I was in. I questioned, challenged, and rebutted, sometimes with an eagerness that lacked patience or wisdom. It felt as if my emotions dictated my responses, and rather than calmly processing situations, I reacted with a force that stemmed from pride and restlessness.
Even in moments of asking for help—whether from others or through prayer—I carried an air of entitlement, as if my requests should be met with immediate answers. I approached life with the attitude of a commander rather than a humble seeker, demanding rather than understanding. But despite all of this, these qualities never truly shaped the kind of moral character I wished to embody. Instead, they only heightened my frustrations and distanced me from the genuine peace and fulfillment I was searching for.
Then, a turning point arrived—a moment of realization that halted me in my tracks. I found myself standing within the four walls and four pillars of the seminary, immersed in a world that called for self-examination. It was here that I began to perceive the deep-seated fixations within me—patterns of thought and behavior that could not be easily stripped away because they required a process, a transformation. Change was not immediate, nor was it effortless. Every day became a struggle to pray with sincerity, to align my actions with values that I knew were right, and to cultivate a spirit of patience and humility.
The seminary did not merely teach me theology or philosophy; it taught me the essence of selflessness. I learned to extend help and to receive it, to let go of trivial frustrations, and to find meaning beyond my past impulsiveness. My focus gradually shifted away from the nonsensical concerns that once consumed me—especially those tied to the complexities of family life. Instead of dwelling on situations beyond my control, I embraced a more profound understanding: that life is a constant process of growth, shaped not only by successes but also by hardships.
With time, as the years rolled by and maturity settled in, I came to see that even the negative experiences I endured held lessons of immeasurable value. True wisdom does not arise solely from ease and comfort, but often from adversity. Gold is tested by fire, and man is tested by struggles. It is in life’s most difficult moments that our resilience is forged, and our true nature is revealed.
Thus, I stand today, not as the person I once was, but as someone shaped by reflection, experience, and grace. I am grateful beyond words that God has extended my time on this earth, allowing me the opportunity to evolve beyond fleeting impulses and into a life of deeper understanding. Each day is another chance to refine who I am, to move forward with purpose, and to cherish the profound beauty of learning, growth, and faith.
