Personal Works
As a writer for my high school's news site, Scot Scoop, I've reported on a wide range of complex topics, from prospering Asian immigrant small-business owners to successful youth Roblox game developers. One of my favorite ways to convey key ideas and enhance readers' understanding is to design infographics to supplement my writing. Below are some of my digital designs used to accompany my articles.
for my article "Treatment or trauma: The dark reality of the troubled teen industry"
The troubled teen industry is a network of residential programs that place more than 200,000 youth each year. Though marketed as treatment or recovery for adolescents, the industry is largely underregulated, and programs within it often conceal abuse and neglect. This interactive infographic breaks down the troubled teen industry by the numbers, highlighting the scale, cost, and impact behind an industry that operates out of public view.
for my article "From Robux to revenue: innovating success"
Roblox is an online platform that allows users to create and play games, with 88.9 million users spending an average of 2.4 hours on the platform. What most people don’t realize is that Roblox developers made $803 million in earnings last year (2023). This interactive infographic demonstrates the four primary ways users can earn in-game currency, known as Robux, and eventually earn real money through the platform.
for my article "Asian immigrants prosper as entrepreneurs through adversity"
My grandparents on my dad's side of the family endured countless hardships during their journeys to the U.S. in search of a better life. Hearing their stories, along with those of other immigrants, inspired me to highlight these struggles in a meaningful way. I created this infographic to shed light on their obstacles and resilience.

Naturally, the first idea that came to mind was to advertise my top comfort food, ramen.
