What I study
I do research in representation theory, a subfield of algebra. Traditionally, this means "representing" algebraic objects (such as groups, Lie algebras or finite-dimensional algebras) by having them act by matrices on vector spaces. I am interested in higher patterns and structures that arise, for instance numerical invariants of categories of representations, or combinatorics of branching rules for induction and restriction. Algebraic objects whose representation theory I have studied include rational Cherednik algebras, Hecke algebras, diagram algebras, and finite groups of Lie type.
Education
I received my PhD from The University of Chicago in 2012. My advisor was Victor Ginzburg.
During my years as a graduate student I studied Lie theory. My thesis was on symplectic reflection algebras in positive characteristic.
