Hi, I'm Emily Norton, a mathematician at University of Kent working in the area of representation theory

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in mathematics at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK.

Selected recent work

The anti-spherical Hecke categories for Hermitian symmetric pairs, joint work with Chris Bowman, Maud De Visscher, and Amit Hazi. We study the category of diagrammatic Soergel bimodules for Hermitian symmetric pairs, of which there are five classical series and two exceptional types. We show that the category is standard Koszul and independent of the characteristic of the ground field, and its natural subquotient categories are determined by the Bruhat graph (the "combinatorial invariance conjecture"). In particular, the p-Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for Hermitian symmetric pairs are simply the same as in characteristic 0.
