Hi, I'm Emily Norton, a mathematician at University of Kent working in the area of representation theory
I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in mathematics at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK.
Some recent joint work with Olivier Dudas on numerical invariants that arise in finite classical groups, diagrammatic algebras and Lie theory. We show that certain decomposition numbers of a finite group of Lie type B, C, or D may be computed via the same combinatorial algorithm discovered by Brundan and Stroppel for computing type A parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials (in the context of extended Khovanov arc algebras). This provides some hope that despite the difficulty of modular representation theory, there may be some pattern behind the decomposition numbers.
