My Education Journey
I have worked with children for over ten years. From babysitting and teaching piano lessons in high school, to working as the Craft Supervisor of an after school program and the Director of a children's summer camp throughout my first degree, I have always enjoyed spending time with children and teenagers. After completing my first degree, a Bachelor of Arts Honours from the University of Saskatchewan, I began to work as a substitute Educational Assistant with Saskatoon Public Schools. After subbing for two days, I found a school that I loved to work in and ended up getting a contract position. Throughout my three schools years working as an EA, I learned a lot about inclusive education and discovered that I loved working with children and teenagers with disabilities. I therefore decided to pursue the After Degree Elementary Education program at the University of Regina, and enjoyed the time I spent with students in Regina Public Schools during my internship and pre-internship experiences. I am passionate about accessible education for all students, and my next professional learning goal is to continue my education to specialize in Inclusive Education.
