Throughout my academic journey at California State University, Channel Islands, I have gained hands-on experience in surveying plant and animal species using tools such as quadrats, transects, DBH tape, and sticky traps. My proficiency in data analysis software, including R, GIS, and Excel, has enabled me to effectively analyze environmental data to support my research. With a primary focus on endangered species and marine ecosystems, I have actively contributed to a variety of field projects. A highlight of my experience includes a research trip to Santa Rosa Island, where I had the opportunity to survey the unique Torrey pines.
Before transferring to California State University, Channel Islands, I spent two years at Oregon State University, where I gained valuable research experience through the ARC-Learn program. During this time, I focused on analyzing the impacts of permafrost in the Arctic, enhancing my understanding of climate change and its effects on polar ecosystems. Additionally, I served as the Eco-Representative for my dorm hall, where I took the initiative to lead sustainability efforts, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility among my peers.
