I'm Emily J. Heisterkamp, a KG-6th Grade Music Specialist from Omaha, Nebraska. I teach at Hillside Elementary School in the Westside 66 District.
In February of 2023, with the support of my district administration, I applied to be a Fulbright Teacher for Global Classrooms participant. It was new territory for all of us and I wasn't sure what to expect.
By June of that year, I was checking my email DAILY for any announcements. On June 30th, I received word that I was a finalist for the 2023-2024 Fulbright TGC.
In August, amidst the back-to-school rigor, I completed all my acceptance paperwork to be officially enrolled in Fulbright TGC. Let the games begin!
I have my Bachelors in Secondary Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri and my Masters in Music Education from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. I have taught in Missouri, Florida, Iowa, and Nebraska. My teaching has included KG-12th grade through various disciplines like Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Choir, and General Music.
As a proud member of national, state, and local chapter organizations, I strive to serve my musical community through many affiliations.
