I am a graduate student in the PsyD program at Memorial University (MUN) working under the supervision of Dr. Nick Harris.
Before coming to MUN, I graduated with a B.Sc. in Psychology and a Minor in Biology from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2013. I then attended Western University, where I was a member of the Minda Lab and the Brain and Mind Institute. I graduated from Western with an M.Sc. in Cognitive Psychology in 2015 and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology in 2021. My Master's thesis looked at the impact of ambient background noise on creativity and cognitive flexibility, and my Doctoral work focused on the effects that mindfulness and meditation have on aspects of mental health, decision making, and problem solving.
Outside of my graduate studies, I have built a broad research portfolio through collaboration with Dr. Thomas Telfer at Western Law and as the former Coordinator of the Network for Economic and Social Trends (NEST) Research Consultancy at Western University. At Western Law, Dr. Telfer and I conducted multiple studies to evaluate the student experiences and outcomes associated with a course that we developed on mindfulness and emotional intelligence in the legal profession. At NEST, I worked with diverse teams of faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates from the Faculty of Social Science to conduct research and evaluation projects for non-profit and government organizations. These projects included topics such as hate, discrimination toward immigrants, microaggressions, legal experiences of Muslims, and youth civic engagement.
