Master's Research:
The Minnelusa formation, composed of interbedded sandstone and carbonate layers, has great potential to act as a reservoir for geological CO2 storage. The objective of my proposed research is to determine the geochemical CO2-fluid-rock reactions that will occur upon injection of supercritical CO2 into the carbonate layers of the Minnelusa formation and its affect on the porosity and permeability; ultimately determining the affect on the reservoir's overall CO2-storage capacity.
